Case Study 4
An aerospace manufacturer was generating aluminum-lithium turnings from production. When melted for recycling, aluminum-lithium produces slag and dross containing lithium salts, which is an environmentally sensitive material. The aerospace manufacturer was unable to find an approved recycler and was forced to store the material.
Blue Star was able to locate a scrap buyer that was familiar with aluminum-lithium turnings and was able to recycle the turnings, reducing the risk for our client to store the material on their site.
